How to activate dark mode on Instagram

2 min read

It is already possible to activate the dark mode on Instagram if you have the latest version of the iOS and Android operating system, and it is as easy as we will detail below.

There is currently no option within the app to activate the dark mode on Instagram, but if you have iOS 13 and Android 10 installed on your device you can have a dark mode where we can observe a standard black and gray combo mixed with white sources, and the truth is pretty cool in the end.

What Instagram has done is update your application so you can accept the dark mode that comes natively with iOS 13 and Android 10. For the dark theme to work, the Instagram application must be updated to the latest version on both iOS 13 and Android 10.

Turn on dark mode in iOS 13

If you have an Apple device with iOS 13 installed, you must do the following:

  • Access the iPhone Control Center
  • Press and hold the brightness indicator
  • Select the dark mode from the options that appear below

Another way to activate the dark mode on Instagram through an iPhone with iOS 13 is by invoking Siri and ordering it.

There is also a third method and it is to go to “settings”, then to “screen and brightness”, and finally touch the “dark theme” option.

Turn on dark mode on Android 10

If you have a device with Android 10, to activate the dark mode you must go to “settings” of the operating system, then to “Screen” and activating the option “Dark Theme”.

In the ways previously explained, as soon as you reopen Instagram you will see that you will already have the dark mode activated. To disable it simply follow the steps above and disable the dark mode of iOS 13 or Android 10.

As you have seen, there is no option within Instagram to activate or deactivate the dark mode, but it is “responsive” to the operating system.
